The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has strongly rejected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “misleading” statement regarding Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
A spokesperson for the MoFA stated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory. "The Indian prime minister’s statement is an attempt to divert global attention from the ongoing situation in the illegally Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir", the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said that Indian forces continue to commit grave and persistent human rights violations in the occupied region.

The Indian prime minister has levelled allegations against Pakistan for the recent Pahalgam attack without providing any credible evidence, the spokesperson noted.
The final status of the Kashmir dispute must be determined in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions, the spokesperson reaffirmed.
"No amount of rhetoric can alter the legal and historical facts surrounding the Kashmir issue", the statement added.
