The salaried class has emerged as the largest contributor to tax payments, leaving all other sectors behind, with employed Pakistanis paying Rs499billion in taxes during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year.
Detailed figures of tax collection from various sectors have now been released. According to sources, individuals in employment contributed the highest amount of tax to the government.
In comparison, Rs96.36billion was collected from the export sector during the same period. The sale of immovable properties generated Rs110.18billion in taxes, while property purchases brought in Rs109.68billion.
Meanwhile, the sources divulged that Rs22.36billion was collected from the wholesale trade sector, and Rs33.30billion from the retail sector.
