Pakistan’s aviation sector, a project to install electronic gates (E-Gates) at Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi airports has been finalized. Representatives from the German firm M2P visited the Pakistan Airports Authority headquarters in Karachi to formalize the plan.
During the visit, M2P’s Managing Partner Christopher Mostert and Director of Engineering Services Kashif Shah Jelani met with top officials from the Airports Authority. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General (Airports) Sadiq-ur-Rehman and attended by Deputy Director General (Works & Development) Samair Saeed along with other directors.
As part of the agreement, M2P will provide technical assistance for the feasibility study, planning, design, and installation of the E-Gates system at the three airports.
Officials confirmed that surveys for the installation of E-Gates at Islamabad and Lahore airports have already been completed. A similar survey at Karachi Airport is set to begin today.
The e-gates will enhance security, streamline immigration processes, and reduce dependency on manual procedures. This automation is expected to improve passenger experience by saving time and ensuring faster, more efficient clearance for international travelers.
