The deadline for the voluntary repatriation of Afghan refugees ended on March 31, and forced deportation of undocumented foreigners was set to begin from April 1.
However, sources report that despite three days passing, the deportation process has yet to start.
The Landi Kotal Transit Camp remains inactive for the third consecutive day, raising concerns about logistical challenges. According to policy, illegal foreigners across the country were to be moved to temporary camps in Peshawar before being transferred to Landi Kotal.
Sources indicate that the provincial government has requested funds from the federal government to proceed with deportations. Additionally, it has sought an extension until April 10 to make the necessary arrangements, with the deportation process now expected to begin on April 11.
The provincial government is reportedly facing a shortage of funds, which is delaying the operation.
Currently, around 800,000 Afghan Citizen Card holders are residing in Pakistan, and the federal government has announced their repatriation as part of its broader deportation plan.
