The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted bail to 40 more Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who were arrested during the protest on November 26.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the ATC ordered the release of the workers on surety bonds of Rs5,000 each. This decision follows the court's action on Friday, where bail was granted to 250 PTI workers involved in the same protest.
The court emphasised that all cases are being handled on their legal merits, ensuring due process under the law.
The November 26 protest led to the detention of hundreds of PTI workers.
On Friday, the Islamabad ATC granted post-arrest bail to 250 PTI workers who were detained during a crackdown on November 26 at D-Chowk. The operation was conducted by law enforcement agencies amid protests organized by the opposition party.
ATC Judge Zulqarnain delivered a mixed verdict on bail applications filed in connection with 13 cases registered across 10 police stations. These cases involve allegations such as rioting and public disorder under anti-terrorism laws.
Of the 400 suspects, the court approved bail for 250 individuals while rejecting the applications of 150 others. The rulings granted bail to those arrested by police stations in Banigala, Kohsar, Shahzad Town, Noon, I-9, Sihala, Shams Colony, Margalla, Secretariat, and Aabpara.
The November 26 protests were part of a PTI-led march, primarily from Peshawar, aimed at demanding the release of the party’s jailed leader, Imran Khan. The demonstration escalated into chaos, resulting in arrests and multiple charges against party workers and supporters.
