Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is reportedly set to announce his retirement from Test cricket following the conclusion of the ongoing five-match series against Australia.
According to The Times of India, discussions about his retirement have already taken place between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) top officials and selectors, making it unlikely for Rohit to reconsider his decision.
While the exact timing of the announcement remains uncertain, it is expected to come after the final Test in Sydney. However, should India qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, Rohit might seek permission from the selectors to play that marquee event before stepping away.
The Indian skipper's struggles in the series have intensified speculation. Despite the criticism, Rohit has expressed his desire to give his best until the end, stating, "I don’t want to go out without a fight."
