An accountability court has issued orders to confiscate the property of Zulfi Bukhari, a co-accused in a NAB reference alongside PTI Founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
The decision was made on September 9 by Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Accountability Court on the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Zulfi Bukhari was declared an absconder by the accountability court on January 6 over repeatedly evading court appearances. The court, after reviewing arguments and records, concluded that Bukhari had deliberately concealed himself being one of the main co-accused in the corruption reference to avoid legal proceedings.
The NAB special prosecutor had filed a petition requesting the court to issue orders for Bukhari’s property seizure, citing his continuous non-appearance and deliberate evasion of court proceedings. According to the petition, Bukhari has not been cooperating with legal authorities and has gone into hiding.
The court has declared Zulfi Bukhari an absconder due to his continuous non-attendance. The NAB had also requested the court to order confiscation of Bukhari's assets, including seven kanals of land in Islamabad and 1,300 kanals in Attock.
The court responded by issuing a notice on September 9, ordering the confiscation of these properties.
Zulfi Bukhari is charged in the case alongside PTI Founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
