The Islamabad Accountability Court has transferred the Toshakhana 2 case involving the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
This decision follows recent amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws, which limit NAB's jurisdiction over cases involving amounts less than Rs 500 million.
The court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich, issued a written order detailing the reasons for transferring the case.
The judge noted that, based on the new NAB amendments, the Toshakhana 2 reference does not fall under the accountability court's authority, as the value of the property involved is less than Rs 500 million.
As a result, the case has been moved to the court of the Special Judge Central, where it will now be handled by the FIA. The court also directed that the bail applications and reference concerning the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi be sent to the Special Judge Central. Both parties' lawyers are expected to appear in the Special Judge's court on September 10.
This transfer marks a partial relief for the PTI founder and his wife, as the Supreme Court's decision on NAB amendments has shifted the jurisdiction of their case. The FIA will now take over the investigation, while legal proceedings continue in the newly assigned court.
