The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and the Peoples Party (PPP) have made substantial progress in their power-sharing arrangement in Punjab.
The agreement marks a pivotal moment in the political landscape of the province.
Under the new agreement, PML-N has consented to allocate development funds and key positions to the PPP in Punjab. The PPP has outlined its demands for annual development funds across 36 national and provincial constituencies.
Specifically, the Peoples Party has requested an annual allocation of Rs300 million for the winning candidates and at least Rs150 million for runner-up candidates.
Additionally, PPP is set to receive important posts, including chairman and deputy chairman positions in various authorities, further solidifying its influence within the provincial administration.

Earlier on July 19, the PML-N-led government and its ally, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), held talks on the administrative affairs of Punjab. The negotiation committees from both parties met at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad.
The government side was represented by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. Prime Minister's advisor Rana Sanaullah was also part of the government's negotiation committee.
The PPP delegation consisted of former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Hasan Murtaza, and Nadeem Afzal Chan.
The negotiation committee had also summoned the Punjab chief secretary and the inspector general of police to participate in the discussions. The agenda included reviewing the decisions from the previous meeting on Punjab's administrative matters and assessing the progress on implementing these decisions.
