The Punjab government has announced stringent actions against officers who fail to adhere to the directives of the chief minister. The decision targets deputy commissioners (DCs) who do not comply with the instructions issued by the CM's office.
According to official sources, the deputy commissioners who do not follow the directives will be removed from their posts and barred from future postings. During the tenure of the PML-N government, these officers will be designated as Officers on Special Duty (OSD), effectively side-lining them from active administrative roles.
The chief minister's house has prepared a rigorous evaluation process to assess the performance of the deputy commissioners. A set of 31 detailed questions, significantly increased from the previous nine, will be posed to them. These questions are designed to scrutinize various aspects of their performance, particularly focusing on their effectiveness in controlling inflation.
The DCs who fail to meet the performance standards set by the chief minister's house, especially those who fail to control inflation, will face immediate removal from their positions.
The comprehensive questioning will cover a wide range of performance metrics, and the removed officers will not be eligible for reappointment to their posts. This policy aims to enforce accountability and enhance the efficiency of the administrative machinery in Punjab.
The CM House will directly oversee the questioning and evaluation process, ensuring that the measures are implemented effectively and that only competent and compliant officers are retained in key positions.
