The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has called for a thorough investigation against those who intervene in the judiciary.
The bar's statement comes as it submits its suggestions to the Supreme Court, which took a suo motu notice on the letters written by six judges of the Islamabad High Court, alleging interference in judicial affairs.
In its response, the bar association emphasized the need to uphold the independence and integrity of the judiciary by addressing any attempts at external influence. "There is a code of conduct related to the responsibilities and protection of judges," the SCBA said.

Among the suggestions put forth was the recommendation for an investigation against individuals who intervene in judicial matters. Furthermore, the SCBA proposed that the Islamabad High Court should have exercised its power of contempt of court against any interference in judicial affairs.
"It is beyond understanding that the high court did not proceed with contempt of court," the bar association said.

Expressing concern over the leaking of the judges' letter to the media, the Supreme Court Bar Association raised questions about the confidentiality and integrity of judicial communications. It said the judges narrated the events of last year in their letters.
It further maintained that if any judge had a complaint, he/she should first inform their chief justice. If the CJ concerned fails to take action, the matter should be brought to the attention of the Supreme Judicial Council for further investigation and resolution.
