A lioness named Morni has died mysteriously at the Sher Bagh Zoo in Bahawalpur.
According to the zoo administration, the lioness was healthy but suddenly fell unconscious and died. Experts said the sudden death of 'Morni' may have been caused by heatstroke, leading to cardiac arrest. Zoo sources said the lioness was completely healthy until 11am, after which she suddenly collapsed and died.
Lioness buried within zoo premises
A veterinary doctor posted at the zoo examined the lioness and declared her dead. After a post-mortem examination, the lioness was buried within the zoo premises. Experts have raised the possibility of unsuitable arrangements in the lions’ enclosures following the sudden death.
After Morni’s death, the total number of lions at the zoo has fallen to 18.
