Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed on Friday the Pakistan’s commitment to an effective multilateral system and support for the central role of the United Nations in global affairs.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar met Macky Sall, candidate for the position of United Nations Secretary-General, along with former Guinea-Bissau president Gen Umaro Embaló.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that during the meeting, he stressed the importance of upholding the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, respecting international law and treaties, and ensuring the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Pakistan resolves to promote peace
The deputy prime minister said the implementation of resolutions relating to Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir was essential for global peace and security.
He also highlighted the need for necessary reforms at the United Nations and called for stronger efforts to address emerging global challenges.
Dar said Pakistan remained committed to promote the global peace, security and the international development agenda.
