Continued increases in the prices of roti have added to the hardship faced by residents, with roti and naan gradually moving beyond the reach of many households because of rising costs.
Lahore nanbais sell roti at Rs16-20 against official Rs14 price
In Lahore, Nanbais have raised roti prices independently despite the official price of one loaf being fixed at Rs14. However, several bakeries are selling roti for between Rs16 and Rs20.
Nanbais said rising flour and gas prices have made it impossible to sell roti at the official rate.
Residents called on the authorities to take immediate action to enforce official prices, saying the higher cost of roti has placed an even heavier burden on low-income families.
