Salman Khan is reportedly preparing for a major residential move after receiving approval to construct a six-storey building in Mumbai's Bandra area, even as his legal battle over the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy continues.
The reported development comes weeks after the actor approached the Delhi High Court seeking to halt the release and promotion of the film, alleging it unlawfully portrays his life and ongoing legal matters.
According to multiple Indian media reports, Salman Khan has received approval to construct a six-storey building in Bandra, which is expected to become the Khan family's new residence.
The proposal was reportedly approved by the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) on June 16. However, there has been no official confirmation from the actor or his representatives regarding the move.
The new property is located in Bandra's Chimbai area, not far from Galaxy Apartments, where the Khan family has lived since 1974.
Property Registered in Salma Khan's Name
According to reports citing MCZMA sources, the land has been purchased in the name of Salman Khan's mother, Salma Khan.
The reports further state that a two-storey structure previously standing on the site was demolished after being declared structurally unsafe.
Legal dispute over ‘Kala Hiran’ continues
The reported residential development comes as Salman Khan remains engaged in a legal dispute over the upcoming Hindi film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy.
The actor has filed a commercial lawsuit in the Delhi High Court seeking to stop the film's release and promotional activities.
According to the lawsuit, Khan alleges the film uses his identity without authorisation by depicting his 1998 blackbuck poaching case and his reported tensions with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, which he says violates his personality and publicity rights.
His legal team also issued a cease-and-desist notice, arguing that the film's teasers and promotional material could damage his reputation and interfere with ongoing court proceedings.
In June, the Delhi High Court declined to grant immediate interim relief to the actor.
Instead, the court directed Salman Khan's legal team to provide complete case documents to the filmmakers and scheduled the next hearing for July 1, 2026.
The film's director, Bharat S. Shrinate, and producer, Amit Jani, are contesting Khan's plea.
Film inspired by 1998 blackbuck case
Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy is described as an unauthorised, true-crime-style Hindi film inspired by Salman Khan's 1998 blackbuck poaching case and the legal proceedings that followed.
The case dates back to the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Rajasthan, where Khan was accused of hunting protected blackbucks.
The incident led to years of legal proceedings, widespread media attention, and criticism from members of the Bishnoi community, who regard the blackbuck as sacred.
Salman Khan is now seeking legal intervention to prevent the release of a film he claims is heavily based on those events.
The report also states that some actors, including Sonu Mishra and others, have exited Kala Hiran during the ongoing legal dispute.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan is continuing work on his upcoming film, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, which is scheduled for release on August 14.
