The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has increased the annual fee for departmental cricket teams and set a minimum monthly remuneration limit for players.
A meeting on departmental cricket has been called in Lahore on June 29, while sources say several departments have expressed reservations over the increase in annual fees.
According to the report, the PCB has fixed the annual fee for a Grade One departmental team at Rs15 million.
For Grade Two Gold teams, the annual fee has been set at Rs42 million, while the fee for Grade Two Silver teams has been fixed at Rs4 million.
Minimum player payments made mandatory
The PCB has also made it mandatory for departments to pay minimum monthly remuneration to their players.
Players in Grade One teams must be paid at least Rs125,000 per month, which amounts to Rs1.5 million per year.
For Grade Two Gold, players must be paid at least Rs75,000 per month. Players in Grade Two Silver teams must receive at least Rs50,000 per month.
One-year contracts required
Departments will also be required to sign one-year contracts with players. The move is aimed at formalising player payments and ensuring financial security for cricketers representing departmental teams.
The PCB has called a departmental cricket meeting on June 29 in Lahore to discuss the new structure and related matters.
Sources said several departments have raised reservations over the increase in annual fees, indicating that the issue may be taken up during the meeting.
