Riding on what it describes as a significant political breakthrough in Gilgit-Baltistan, the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has decided to enter the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections next month.
The decision was taken during an important consultative meeting of the party leadership, where leaders discussed election strategy, potential candidates and plans to strengthen the party’s presence in Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by IPP Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood, Punjab President Rana Nazir Ahmed Khan and other senior party leaders.
Participants held detailed consultations on the political situation in Azad Kashmir, potential candidates and various aspects of the upcoming election campaign.
The recommendations formulated during the meeting have been forwarded to IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan, who will give the final approval.
Strong candidates to be fielded
The party decided that IPP will field candidates in constituencies across Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders also agreed to bring forward strong and dynamic candidates for the 12 refugee seats allocated to AJK in Punjab.
According to party officials, the aim is to ensure a strong electoral presence throughout the region and expand the party’s political footprint.
GB success boosts party confidence
Party leaders expressed confidence that the momentum gained in Gilgit-Baltistan would help strengthen the party's position in Azad Kashmir.
After securing recognition of its political status in Gilgit-Baltistan, the party said it is now looking to expand its influence into the valleys of Kashmir.
Leaders remarked that after Gilgit-Baltistan, the people of Kashmir would also place their trust in the manifesto and leadership of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.
Organizational wings directed to intensify campaign
The party leadership directed all organizational officials, including members of the women’s wing, to accelerate election-related activities. Officials were instructed to increase outreach efforts and strengthen contact with workers at the grassroots level ahead of the polls.
The leadership emphasized that a well-organized and effective election campaign would further consolidate the party’s position nationwide.
During the meeting, leaders said the upcoming Azad Kashmir elections would provide an important opportunity to strengthen the party as a major political force across Pakistan. They expressed confidence that active participation in the elections would help broaden the party’s support base and reinforce its national presence.
The leadership reiterated its commitment to expanding the party’s reach through democratic engagement and electoral participation.
Resolution passed in support of Aleem Khan
The meeting expressed full confidence in the leadership of IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan.
Party leaders also passed a resolution congratulating him on his recent political achievements and acknowledging his role in the party’s growing political influence.
The final list of candidates and election strategy will be announced after receiving formal approval from the party president.
