Goods transporters have announced a 15 percent cut in fares, while intercity passenger transport fares have also been reduced by thousands of rupees on several routes.
Emergency meeting in Lahore finalises new fares
An emergency meeting was held between the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and transporters in Lahore to decide the revised fare structure.
After detailed discussions, both sides agreed on new rates, which have now started rolling out across different transport companies.
Officials confirmed that transport operators are issuing updated fare lists immediately, and strict action will be taken against any violations.
Major fare reductions announced
Several key intercity routes have seen notable reductions in ticket prices.
- Lahore to Karachi (Business Class): Reduced from Rs 10,450 to Rs 8,550
- Lahore to Karachi (Economy Class): Reduced from Rs 8,450 to Rs 7,000
- Lahore to Abbottabad: Reduced from Rs 3,400 to Rs 2,800
- Lahore to Bahawalnagar: Reduced from Rs 2,350 to Rs 1,950
- Lahore to Faisalabad: Reduced from Rs 1,085 to Rs 900
- Lahore to DG Khan: Reduced from Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,130
These reductions are expected to benefit daily commuters and long-distance travelers the most
Officials including Rana Mohsin confirmed that all transport companies are now issuing revised fare charts.
They added that the new fares will be implemented immediately across routes, and enforcement teams will monitor compliance to ensure passengers receive the announced relief.
