Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation for the party to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan, calling it a positive step and a continuation of democratic traditions.
In his response, Bilawal Bhutto said the recognition of PPP’s majority in Gilgit-Baltistan reflects respect for electoral outcomes and strengthens democratic norms in the region.
He said the PPP would “fulfil its responsibility gracefully” and ensure protection of property rights, employment rights, and constitutional rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The PPP chairman added that the party would utilize all available resources to serve the people of the region and address their development needs effectively.
Welcoming the power-sharing arrangement, Bilawal noted that the allocation of the governor and deputy speaker positions to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) reflects political understanding and cooperation between the coalition partners.
He further stated that the PPP appreciates the prime minister’s invitation to form the government, describing it as a constructive move that strengthens democratic processes.
“The PPP’s recognition of majority in Gilgit-Baltistan is a continuation of democratic tradition,” he said, adding that the party remains committed to serving the people of the region with full dedication.
The statement comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the PPP will form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan while PML-N members will sit in opposition but support the party during the formation process.
