President Trump said the actions of certain Republican members were irresponsible and unpatriotic. He said the vote took place during the final stage of negotiations aimed at ending the conflict with Iran. Trump maintained that Republican members who voted against him were engaging in political posturing.
The US president said that the House of Representatives voted in favour of limiting his war powers, but termed the vote as a 'completely meaningless exercise'.
Trump said the members who voted against him were seeking cheap publicity and that their actions were driven by political motives.
