Iran has rejected US allegations that it planned the assassination of US President Donald Trump and other American leaders.
According to media reports, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei responded to remarks made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a Senate hearing, saying Tehran considers the allegations baseless.
Baqaei said every accusation levelled against Iran amounted to an admission in itself.
He said portraying themselves as victims could not conceal as brutal war crimes, acts of genocide and crimes against humanity committed against Iran.
The Iranian spokesman said such allegations were intended to divert global attention from the real issues and strengthen the narrative against Iran.
