Saudi Arabia has signalled its interest in investing in Pakistan’s maritime sector, including Gwadar Port.
According to details, an online meeting took place between the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs and the Pakistan-Saudi Joint Business Council, during which Saudi companies received a briefing on investment opportunities in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
Saudi investors were also invited to enter into partnerships for the expansion of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) fleet.
Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said Pakistan’s maritime sector offers attractive opportunities for Saudi investors. He said there is considerable scope for investment in ports, logistics and the blue economy, while Saudi Vision 2030 and Pakistan’s development priorities provide broad avenues for cooperation.
Chaudhry said discussions covered investment opportunities across all ports, including Gwadar Port. He added that the Maritime Business District project at Karachi Port is available for investment, while opportunities also exist for the establishment of a multi-purpose cargo terminal at Port Qasim.
He said the Energy City project offers profitable opportunities for Saudi investors and that a proposal has also been presented for the establishment of an Aqua Research Park at Korangi Fish Harbour.
