Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has accused the United States of failing to comply with a ceasefire agreement, citing continued regional tensions and military developments in Lebanon.
In a post on social media platform X, Ghalibaf said recent actions in the region indicate that Washington is not respecting the terms of the ceasefire, pointing to escalating conflict-related activity and maritime restrictions.
Accusations over Lebanon, naval restrictions
Ghalibaf alleged that continued military escalation by Israel in Lebanon, along with a reported naval blockade, reflects what he described as US noncompliance with the ceasefire arrangement.
He claimed these developments amount to a broader pattern of violations linked to Washington’s regional policy.
In his post, he wrote that “every choice has a price, and the bill comes due,” adding that “it will all fall into place,” without providing further details.
Context of regional tensions
The remarks come after reports that the Israeli military launched a large-scale operation targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
The situation follows a ceasefire between Iran and the United States after what was described as a 39-day conflict, during which tensions had significantly escalated in the region.
Iran has also previously accused the US of imposing maritime restrictions, including a blockade, in response to developments linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
Despite the accusations, diplomatic discussions between Iran and the United States have reportedly continued for weeks, focusing on broader arrangements aimed at reducing tensions and reopening strategic maritime routes.
No official response from US authorities regarding Ghalibaf’s latest statement was immediately included in the report.
