Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council have strongly condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks on Kuwait, warning that such actions could further escalate tensions in the region.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry condemned the Iranian attacks and said they amounted to direct attacks on Kuwait’s security. The ministry said the strikes were a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
It also described the attacks as a serious threat to Kuwaiti citizens and national installations.
Kuwait says it has right to self-defence
Kuwait said the state has the right to respond in self-defence.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that any attack on Kuwaiti territory or facilities would be treated as a threat to national sovereignty and security.
Saudi Arabia condemns strikes
Saudi Arabia also condemned the missile and drone attacks on Kuwait. The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the attack was an assault on the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait.
It added that the strike was a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Saudi Arabia warned that such actions could damage peace efforts in the region. The kingdom expressed full solidarity with the government and people of Kuwait.
Riyadh said regional stability must be protected through respect for sovereignty and international law.
GCC expresses full solidarity
The Gulf Cooperation Council also condemned Iran’s attack on Kuwait. GCC Secretary-General Jassim Mohammed Al-Badawi said the attacks could further increase tensions in the region.
He called on the international community to take action against elements that threaten regional security.
