Meta is developing an AI-powered pendant and plans to begin testing the device next year, according to a company memo reviewed by The Information.
According to TechCrunch, the device is expected to build on the work of Limitless, an AI device start-up acquired by Meta at the end of 2025. Limitless produced an AI pendant that users could attach to a shirt or wear as a necklace to record conversations. At the time of the acquisition, Meta said the deal would help accelerate its efforts to develop AI-enabled wearable devices.
Earlier, AI wearables failed to gain widespread consumer acceptance, amid concerns over privacy and questions about their practical value.
The memo also stated that Meta plans to expand its range of AI glasses and introduce a business subscription service called Wearables for Work.
Through these planned products, the company is seeking to improve the performance of its Reality Labs hardware division, which recorded a loss of $4 billion during the first quarter of this year.
