Qatar has declared that temporary toll tax collection from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz is permissible.
Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that permanent toll tax collection would inevitably be passed on to consumers and would not be acceptable, while temporary collection is considered acceptable.
He added that if Iran collects toll tax for the clearance of mines and other necessary arrangements, then such collection may be discussed for a limited period.
