United States President Donald Trump has tightened the terms of a proposed framework aimed at ending the war in Iran and has returned the revised text to Tehran for consideration, according to the New York Times.
The report stated that it was not immediately clear what amendments had been made to the draft agreement. Trump was disappointed by the delay in Iran's response and remains concerned about certain provisions of the proposed deal, US officials said.
Several key and contentious issues within the framework have been deferred until future rounds of negotiations, the report added.
The New York Times also reported that Pakistan played a role in the formulation of President Trump's proposed revisions.
The proposed framework has been forwarded to the Iranian leadership for review, according to the newspaper.
