Despite an announcement by US President Donald Trump, the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz remains in place.
According to Iranian media, personnel of the Iranian Navy confirmed the blockade involving US forces. Iran said CENTCOM did not allow Iranian vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, while ships encountered warnings in the area.
The Iranian military also issued warnings to vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz. A spokesman for Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters said the Iranian armed forces retain control of the waterway. He said military vessels interfering in the strait could become targets, while ships violating Hormuz transit regulations would face danger.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that 20 vessels crossed the Strait of Hormuz during the past 24 hours. It said all ships obtained permission from the Iranian Navy before transit and travelled along routes designated by Iran. The Guard Corps added that all commercial vessels and oil tankers must secure licences from the Iranian Navy before passage.
Separately, Omani maritime authorities issued a warning to vessels using the Strait of Hormuz. According to an advisory, an explosive object has been detected in the western section of the waterway, and ships were urged to exercise caution while using the western route.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations authority also said risks remain because of the continuing blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. It added that unrestricted movement of vessels through the waterway is still not possible.
