The US dollar gained Rs0.5 against the Pakistani rupee in the open market following increased demand after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
The dollar rose by five paisas against the rupee in the open market. Moreover, the data released by ECAP showed the dollar was traded at Rs279.61 in the open market. Currency dealers said the interbank market remains closed on Saturdays.
On Friday, the dollar closed one paisa lower in the interbank market at Rs278.50.
Dealers said the situation in the open market is expected to return to normal from Monday in line with the interbank market.
