Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held separate telephone conversations with the senior leadership of Iraq, Malaysia, Qatar and Egypt to discuss bilateral relations, regional peace efforts and co-operation, Iranian media reported.
During his conversation with Iraqi leaders, both sides stressed the continuation of high-level consultations between Iran and Iraq and called for the swift implementation of joint agreements. The two countries also exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings and agreed to strengthen bilateral relations.
Iranian media reported that both sides expressed hope that diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region would yield positive results.
President Pezeshkian also spoke by telephone with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The two leaders exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings and underscored the importance of unity and harmony among Islamic countries.
Both sides expressed hope that lasting peace and stability in the region could be achieved through diplomatic efforts. President Pezeshkian also invited the Malaysian premier to visit Tehran and stressed the need to expand co-operation.
In a separate call with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Iranian president discussed regional peace negotiations.
President Pezeshkian said Iran was prepared to help end war and tensions in the region within a dignified framework. He thanked Qatar for its constructive role and peace efforts, adding that Iran had always remained committed to diplomacy and international agreements.
He said Tehran expected the opposing side to honour international agreements as well.
Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to continuing its mediation role for regional peace and stability.
President Pezeshkian also held a telephone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Iranian media reported that both leaders exchanged Eid-ul-Azha greetings and stressed the need for unity across the Islamic world.
President Pezeshkian emphasised the continuation of diplomacy and dialogue to ease regional tensions, while the Egyptian president reaffirmed support for negotiations aimed at securing lasting peace and stability in the region.
