China has urged Iran and the United States to return to dialogue and seize the opportunity for peace, as Beijing praised Pakistan’s role in supporting mediation efforts between the two sides.
China’s Foreign Ministry said all parties should seize the opportunity and work toward a possible solution. The ministry said the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
It added that the use of force is not the solution to the problem and that only talks can lead to peace.
Beijing ready to play constructive role
China said it is ready to play a constructive role in finding a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing has maintained close communication with relevant parties, including Iran, since the outbreak of fighting.

She said China has been working to help end the conflict and restore peace in the region.
China praises Pakistan’s role
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said China appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating a ceasefire deal between the United States and Iran. He said Beijing also acknowledged Pakistan’s role in hosting talks in Islamabad.
The remarks came after Shehbaz Sharif held what he described as a “warm and cordial” meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday.
China urges ceasefire commitments
China on Tuesday called on all parties to honor their ceasefire commitments following reports of fresh US military strikes against Iran.
Asked about the US claim that it had carried out new strikes on Iranian missile bases and vessels allegedly preparing to lay mines, Mao Ning said disputes should be resolved through peaceful means instead of escalation.

“China urges relevant parties to honor their ceasefire commitments, adhere to resolving disputes through peaceful means, continue dialogue and negotiations to reach a solution that accommodates the legitimate concerns of all sides, and work toward the early restoration of peace in the Gulf region and the broader Middle East,” Mao told reporters in Beijing.
Call for Middle East stability
Mao called on the United States and Iran to resolve their differences peacefully and help restore stability in the Middle East. She said China would continue to follow the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s proposals and play a positive role in bringing peace and tranquility back to the region.

Mao reiterated China’s long-standing support for a political settlement to the Iranian nuclear dispute. She stressed the importance of protecting the global non-proliferation regime and safeguarding regional security.
US says strikes were self-defense
The United States said Monday that it carried out a series of “self-defense” strikes in southern Iran. According to Washington, the strikes targeted missile launchers and boats allegedly involved in laying mines.
The latest developments have added urgency to diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation in the Gulf region and the broader Middle East.
