Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has praised Pakistan, Gulf countries, Turkiye and Egypt for their mediation efforts in the Iran-US dispute.
In a post on X, Anwar Ibrahim said talks regarding a framework agreement between Iran and the United States were moving in a positive direction. He added that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz could also form part of a possible agreement.
The Malaysian premier said encouraging signals had been received from leaders in West Asia. He praised the role of Gulf states, Pakistan, Turkiye and Egypt in mediation efforts and said all parties should seize the opportunity to move towards a comprehensive agreement.
He said such an agreement would strengthen the ceasefire in the region and secure maritime routes. He added that Malaysia supports every multilateral effort aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
