The United States has presented five conditions to Iran in response to ongoing negotiations,
According to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, the reported American conditions include refusal to pay war compensation and a demand for the transfer of 400 kilogrammes of enriched uranium. Washington also wants only one nuclear facility in Iran to remain operational.
Under the proposed terms, any ceasefire across all fronts would depend on the outcome of negotiations. The United States also does not intend to release even 25 per cent of Iran’s frozen assets.
Iran, meanwhile, has already issued its own five conditions. These include a ceasefire in Lebanon and the removal of sanctions imposed on Tehran.
Iran has also demanded the return of its frozen assets, payment of war compensation, and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
Regional tensions have remained high since US and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier this year. Tehran later carried out retaliatory attacks against Israel and US allies in the Gulf region.
