A civilian sacrificed his life and prevented a major disaster in the local area, near Kohat.
According to sources, in the village of Mankoor in the Jand area on the outskirts of Kohat, a suspicious person was moving through farmland when local resident Liaqat stopped him and attempted to ask for identification.
During this exchange, the suspected suicide attacker became alarmed and detonated himself, resulting in the death of the brave civilian, Liaqat on the spot, while the attacker was also killed.
Sources said Liaqat was a retired employee of Pakistan Railways. Initial reports suggest the militant intended to reach a nearby checkpoint, however timely intervention by the civilian averted a major loss of life.
Security sources stated that Liaqat stood as a solid wall, saving precious lives. It was further stated that militants under the patronage of Afghan Taliban elements are attempting to target civilians and security personnel, while the armed forces, police and citizens continue to resist such designs.
Residents and officials paid tribute to Liaqat’s sacrifice, stating that the nation will never forget his bravery and martyrdom.
