On completion of one year of the landmark victory in Marka-e-Haq, a dignified ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on Sunday.
According to details on Sunday, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, along with federal ministers and other senior figures attended the event.
Foreign diplomats were also present. At the start of the ceremony, the national anthem was played and those present stood in respect. Contingents of the three armed forces conducted a march past and presented the salute.
On the completion of one year of Marka-e-Haq, ceremonies were held across the country as well as by Pakistanis living abroad, who reaffirmed their resolve that no sacrifice would be spared for the integrity of the homeland.
Peshawar rallies mark ‘Marka-e-Haq’ anniversary, praise for armed forces
In Peshawar, rallies were held to mark one year of the success of ‘Marka-e-Haq’, with various organisations taking part in celebrations marked by enthusiasm.
Participants carried national flags and raised slogans in support of the Pakistan Army, while speakers stated that the whole nation stands with the armed forces and is ready to make every sacrifice for national defence.
A large rally was taken out in Peshawar under the Tehreek-e-Naujawan Pakistan, led by provincial president Ikramuddin. Participants, with national flags displayed on their vehicles, began from Gulbahar, passed through Ring Road and GT Road, and concluded at the historic Bala Hisar Fort, chanting slogans in support of the Pakistan Army.
Participants said the enemy had been defeated in ‘Marka-e-Haq’, calling it a matter of national pride.
Railway employees also held a rally and a ceremony on the occasion, chaired by Railways Chairman Syed Mazhar Ali Shah. He stated that the armed forces defended the country and raised the nation’s honour, adding that the world had witnessed the outcome faced by those who challenged Pakistan.
