Federal Interior Minister and Minister for Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi met Bangladesh’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam in a high-level meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, trade opportunities, and cultural exchange.
The discussions also touched on regional developments and Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in global conflicts.
Both sides held detailed discussions on improving cooperation in trade, business, and cultural sectors.
They agreed to expand mutual exchanges of delegations aimed at strengthening people-to-people contacts and boosting economic ties.
Officials described the meeting as constructive, with a shared emphasis on long-term regional cooperation.
Bangladesh appreciates Pakistan’s mediation efforts
During the meeting, the Bangladeshi delegation appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role in efforts to mediate the Iran-US conflict.
The remarks highlighted Islamabad’s increasing involvement in regional diplomacy and conflict resolution initiatives.
Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that Pakistan offers significant investment opportunities for foreign partners, particularly in trade and development sectors.
He emphasized the importance of expanding economic collaboration between the two countries to unlock mutual benefits.
High-level delegation participation
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Bangladesh Foreign Ministry Secretary Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Director General South Asia Ishrat Jahan, and Director Shamima Yasmin.
Pakistan was represented by High Commissioner Imran Haider, along with other officials.
Both countries also discussed the possibility of an upcoming visit by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister to Pakistan, signaling continued engagement at the diplomatic level.
Officials said such exchanges would help further strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding.
