Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has contacted Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to seek cooperation in efforts to ensure the welfare and repatriation of Pakistani and Iranian seafarers.
Dar said 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian crew members are aboard vessels seized by US authorities and currently located near Singaporean waters.
In his communication with Vivian Balakrishnan, Dar requested Singapore’s support in facilitating the safe return of the crew members. He appreciated Singapore’s cooperation and support in the matter.

Contact with Iranian foreign minister
Ishaq Dar also spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi regarding the situation. Both leaders agreed to remain in close coordination on the issue.
Dar said Pakistan stands ready to provide all possible facilities for the safe repatriation of Iranian citizens to Iran through Pakistan. He added that Pakistan is committed to helping ensure the safe return of all affected nationals.
Coordination with US authorities continues
Pakistan, through the Foreign Office and relevant authorities, is in constant contact with US authorities and other parties.
Dar said these efforts are focused on ensuring the safety, welfare and earliest possible return of Pakistani nationals and the Iranian crew members.
