The Punjab Education Department has changed the marking procedure for the exams of classes 9 and 11 under respective boards of intermediate and secondary education.
According to the latest method, the students will be given grades instead of marks, and those obtaining 40% marks will be declared passed instead of 33%.
As per the new system, 25% of the paper will consist of conceptual questions.

Teachers and students in Faisalabad have welcomed the new grading system. The students say now there will be no pressure to achieve higher marks than one’s elder brother.
They said if the passing percentage was 40%, they would have to study more now. Through the introduction of conceptual questions, the rote system will be eliminated.
The teachers say this new system will do away with the position system and children will move forward with confidence.
