Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said the United States has sought further negotiations, a request now under consideration in Tehran.
Speaking to journalists in Saint Petersburg, Araghchi said Iran remained resolute in the face of a superpower and maintained that Washington had failed to secure any of its objectives. He added that the request for renewed talks was under review.
The Iranian foreign minister also thanked the Kremlin, saying the conflict had shown that Iran possessed strong allies such as Russia.
Earlier, Araghchi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, where hopes were expressed for peace in Iran amid continuing regional tensions.
The meeting took place as diplomatic efforts persisted over stalled Iran–US negotiations and broader instability in the Middle East.
During the talks, President Putin said Russia hoped the Iranian people would overcome what he termed a “difficult period” and that peace would ultimately prevail.
