Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Pakistan, where discussions were held on ongoing efforts to bring the war to an end.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the Iranian foreign minister arrived again in Islamabad from Muscat after his latest round of diplomatic engagements. According to Iranian media, his return to Islamabad formed part of continued consultations, with proposals linked to arrangements for ending the conflict expected to be conveyed during the meetings.
Iran has sought guarantees that no further military aggression will take place in the future. Its conditions also include easing of sanctions and other key demands.
After a brief stay in Pakistan, Abbas Araghchi is due to travel on to Moscow.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister met the Oman's sultan in Muscat, where detailed discussions were held on regional affairs and mediation efforts. Matters relating to the Strait of Hormuz were also reviewed.
The Oman's sultan put forward proposals aimed at limiting the impact of crises on civilians and achieving a durable political settlement, stressing dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred course.
The Iranian foreign minister also held telephone contact with counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and France, and apprised them of recent developments in the talks.
Moreover, the Turkiye’s foreign minister maintained telephonic contact with US negotiating officials, during which the latest progress in discussions was reviewed.
