Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Iran was misled with false assurances, subjected to threats and given reassurances, yet no discussion took place on concrete facts.
He said Iran had fallen into the trap of American promises, noting that statements and pledges were visible in Iran-US talks but lacked substance. He added that Iran’s position was justified, as it had previously faced similar assurances.
Lavrov said his country was observing developments regarding possible talks between Iran and the United States in Pakistan, adding that the situation could change ten times within 24 hours.
He said that if Iran and the United States reached an agreement similar to that of 2015, it would mark a major success.
