The Provincial Development Working Party has approved development funds worth Rs87 billion for various infrastructure and public service projects across Punjab.
The 70th meeting of the Punjab Development Working Party was chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf. During the session, multiple schemes related to urban development, transport, and municipal services were approved.
Under the allocations, Rs39 billion has been approved for local government development schemes across several districts, including Liaquatpur, Rojhan, Ali Pur, Taunsa Sharif, Shujaabad, and Noorpur. These funds will be used to complete various municipal development projects in these areas.
Additional local government schemes have also been approved for cities including Bahawalnagar, Bhowana, Darya Khan, Kot Momin, Khairpur Tamewali, Pakpattan, Karor Pakka, Ahmadpur Sial, and Noorpur Thal.
A further Rs41 billion has been allocated for public transport development projects across divisions such as Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, DG Khan, and Bahawalpur. These funds will be used for the construction of bus depots, installation of bus shelters, flag posts, and other transport-related facilities.
Separately, Rs4 billion has been approved for sewerage, drainage, and pavement-related infrastructure projects in Bhakkar, Gujrat, and Noshehra Warkaan.
In addition, Rs1 billion has been sanctioned for road construction and repair work in Bahawalpur as part of ongoing regional infrastructure improvement efforts.
