Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that while the achievement of the Iran–US ceasefire is respected, internal issues must also be resolved alongside global challenges.
He added that if India commits aggression against Pakistan, “we will be the first to take to the field.”
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore held in memory of JUI leader and poet Syed Salman Gilani, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the success attributed to Pakistan in facilitating the Iran–US ceasefire is acknowledged and respected. He stressed the need to find solutions to domestic problems just as efforts are made to resolve international issues.
He further said that Pakistan’s eastern and western borders are closed and trade routes have been blocked, questioning policymakers about the country’s economic future.
