United States President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir while announcing that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully reopened for global maritime traffic.
In a statement on social media, Trump thanked Pakistan’s leadership, describing the prime minister and Field Marshal Munir as “great personalities,” and termed the development a “great day for the world.” He also acknowledged the support of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
The US president confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is now open and ready for shipping, easing concerns over global trade routes. However, he said restrictions related to Iran would remain in place until a final agreement is fully completed, noting that most terms have already been settled.
Trump added that the United States would secure Iran’s nuclear material without any financial exchange and clarified that the deal is not linked to Lebanon. He said Washington would address the situation in Lebanon separately and ensure stability in the region.
He also claimed that Israel would halt strikes in Lebanon following US intervention, while Iran is assisting in clearing sea mines from the area.
