The United States and Iran have drawn close to a framework agreement aimed at ending the war.
According to American media reports, the progress was made during talks held on Tuesday, where both sides moved nearer to finalising the framework for cessation of hostilities.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said that contacts between Washington and Tehran were continuing through Pakistan. Following the return of the Iranian delegation from Pakistan, messages were exchanged on several occasions.
Baghaei said discussions in Pakistan addressed the complete end of the war. Talks also covered compensation for losses incurred during the conflict.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance said President Donald Trump sought not a limited but a comprehensive agreement with Iran. He said the ceasefire remained in place and negotiations were continuing.
Vance added that notable progress had been made through Pakistan’s mediation, though mistrust could not be dispelled overnight. He said it was significant that, for the first time in 49 years, high-level direct talks were taking place with Tehran.
