Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has spoken with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand and stressed the need for an immediate reduction in regional tensions.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders held a telephone conversation and exchanged views on rapidly changing regional developments. Both sides emphasised the urgent need to ease tensions in the region. Dar underlined the importance of dialogue in promoting peace and stability.
The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan-Canada relations and agreed to maintain close contact and pursue high-level exchanges.
Separately, Dar held telephonic conversations with the Japanese foreign minister and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Portugal, as well as contacts with his Canadian counterpart and the United Kingdom’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Hamish Falconer.
In his discussion with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, both leaders stressed the need for an immediate reduction in tensions. Dar said Pakistan remains committed to supporting all efforts for peace. The Japanese minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in regional peace and stability and expressed support for diplomatic efforts.
Dar also spoke with Portugal’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, and highlighted Pakistan’s efforts for lasting peace in the region. The Portuguese minister commended these efforts. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation across areas of mutual interest and maintain high-level engagement.
In his contacts with Anand and Falconer, bilateral ties and the regional situation were discussed. The British minister acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability.
On the other side, Dar held a telephone conversation last night with Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty.
According to a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, both leaders discussed the latest regional developments.
They stressed the need for de-escalation and dialogue amid rising tensions.
The two foreign ministers also agreed to remain in contact in view of the evolving regional situation.
