Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said on Tuesday that Pakistan has maintained balance in the region, adding that the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s tweet was based on confidence.
Speaking on Samaa TV programme 'Red Line With Talat Hussain', Tarar said: " The country condemned Israel’s attack on Iran. The prime minister expressed sorrow over Ayatollah Khamenei’s death. A letter was sent to Mojtaba Khamenei, offering congratulations."
The federal minister added that Pakistan enjoys good relations with the United States, adding that the prime minister and the Field Marshal form a perfect team.
"Pakistan has built its relations with the United States on the basis of trust. The United States places confidence in Pakistan. Gulf countries also consider Pakistan an important state. Pakistan maintains a relationship of trust with Iran," Tarar said.
He said: "Relations with Iran have improved over the past two years. President Trump shared Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s tweet. Pakistan can host negotiations between the United States and Iran."
"It remains to be seen on what matters the United States and Iran will agree. The whole world recognises the role of the Field Marshal. His role has brought honour to Pakistan. It is premature to say when a path for negotiations will emerge," the information minister added.
