Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan stands ready to host talks between the United States and Iran, subject to the consent of both sides.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the prime minister said Pakistan welcomes efforts aimed at ending the ongoing war in the Middle East, adding that dialogue remains essential for peace and stability in the region and beyond. He said Pakistan would be honoured to facilitate meaningful and conclusive negotiations for a comprehensive settlement, provided both Washington and Tehran agree.

Earlier, a Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan remains committed to a peaceful resolution of the Middle East conflict and continues its diplomatic efforts in this regard. The spokesperson said confidentiality is vital to ensure effective diplomacy and positive outcomes, urging the media to avoid speculation and await official statements on any developments.
The prime minister, earlier in the day, directed officials during a meeting to undertake necessary preparations for the possible hosting of talks between Iran and the United States.

A high-level meeting, chaired by the prime minister, was attended by senior military leadership and federal ministers. Discussions included Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to help end the Iran-United States conflict and the possibility of hosting negotiations in the country.
The meeting also reviewed proposals for hosting talks in Pakistan aimed at resolving the Gulf conflict. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar briefed participants on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, including contacts with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Turkiye and other countries.
Sources said the prime minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability, adding that the country is ready to host talks if both parties agree. He said international recognition of Pakistan’s role in resolving the dispute is encouraging.
According to sources, the prime minister will also take President Asif Ali Zardari into confidence on the matter. An important meeting between the two is expected later tonight at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss the prevailing regional situation.
