Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has officially issued 5G licenses to three mobile companies, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital and telecommunications sector.
The licenses were handed over to company representatives during a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s House.
The PTA’s Director General of Licensing formally signed the licenses and presented them to the respective telecom operators. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for IT, and PTA Chairman were also present at the event, along with other key government officials including the Finance and Information Ministers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated the PTA Chairman for the transparent auction of the 5G spectrum, calling it a major step forward for Pakistan’s digital transformation. He urged telecom operators to provide the highest-quality 5G services to consumers across the country.
He said, “I am thankful to all telecom companies and hope that internet access will now reach even the farthest areas of the country. I am also grateful for China’s cooperation in this entire process.
Moreover, he congratulated Federal Minister for IT and his entire team. The spectrum auction process was conducted in an extremely transparent manner.
He said he was thankful to the Federal Minister for Law for handling the legal challenges. All transactions in Pakistan’s history are being carried out in a highly transparent manner.”
Both the Prime Minister, the IT Minister, and the PTA Chairman addressed the attendees, highlighting the importance of 5G technology in promoting innovation, connectivity, and economic growth in Pakistan.
This move positions Pakistan among the leading countries in the region to adopt next-generation mobile technology, signaling a new era in digital services and telecommunications infrastructure.
