US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the United States, together with friendly countries, is working to keep the Strait of Hormuz open.
Speaking on the situation, Wright said the uncertainty would soon ease with emergency oil aid. He said the military operation would finish within weeks, not months.
He said the emergency release of oil would carry no additional cost. Oil prices were not expected to reach $200 per barrel, he added.
Wright also said that once additional resources were in place, tankers would be able to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
